I simply don't delete my photos except if the photos are too hopeless to be saved. This picture was taken 2 years back and it means noting when I viewed it 2 years ago. When I browse through my archive this morning... I guess the picture asked me to upload it here for the world. Lesson of the day...do not delete your photo...you will someday found something interesting and use the photo somehow.
I stopped burning my photos in DVD years ago as I found DVD is not reliable for long term storage. They tend to be covered with molds plus not to mentioned they are prone to scratch. I prefer hard disk. Yes I know they are also come with problems...what I did was I backed it up in 2 hard disks...so...if things gone astray with the first disk, I will have the 2nd one.
p/s: For storage, never use 2.5" portable external hard disk, use the big one (3.5"). They are cheaper and bigger in data storage size. The 2.5" even though is portable and much more easy to use, they are fragile due to their "portableness". You may drop and crach the disk. I have 1 TB and 500 GB hard drive and planning to invest on one more 1TB hard drive. Maybe 2 TB ^_^
