Rakyat Ice Cream

Last Wednesday, after work...I went to Seksyen 19 with my friend Adli to grab a quick dinner and chat at Mukmin restaurant. That restaurant serves Halal Chinese food. I will post an entry bout this restaurant later... After having our dinner and perform our Maghrib Prayer...Adli brought me to Pasar Malam (Night Market) at Seksyen 17 Shah Alam. The night market is very similar to most of the night market that I went before but there is one special thing that lure Adli and me here…that is what I called Ais Krim Rakyat (Ice Cream Rakyat)… In the middle of the market…you can see this Pakcik and her wife (I guess) selling their homemade ice cream. According to adli, his I cream was there long time ago since he can remember…

We went to the stall and Adli treat me with the RM 2 homebrew ice cream…the ice cream was placed in a regular paper cup which we seldom used to grab our morning coffee on the go. I counted about four to five scoop of them. On top of the ice cream, the Pakcik pour this nicely grounded peanut mixed with minced Asam Boi (I don’t know the name in English). The taste? Marvelous…It just a normal ice cream…nothing special…but it reminds me of my childhood, licking to this simple yet tasty ice while holding my Dad’s hand in pasar malam. I want to describe it…but you better try it yourself. I finished the cup even before we managed to reach to our car. ^_^
